The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) and World Learning, recommended MC. Montoya to be placed on the Fulbright Specialist Roster for a tenure of four years (2022-26); Hence the ECA recommendation, Fulbright, ICETEX Colombia, and Universidad del Valle invited Prof. Montoya to disseminate Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), to partner faculty, and to strategize institutional support for intercultural/global education across the disciplines.
The Fulbright specialist is committed to assist in the expansion of COIL interdisciplinary education; to network among educators who would like to implement COIL in their classrooms; to discuss digital spaces and their impact on human behavior; to teach others about digital channels and tools; to keep expanding COIL at the primary and secondary school levels; to disseminate COIL regionally, nationally, and internationally; and to organize more COIL academies globally that prepare instructors to teach students the necessary skills to be prepared for global careers. MC. Montoya invites Oneonta colleagues to talk about the possibilities that COIL brings to their classrooms, students, careers, and contribution to world understanding. The mission lasts two weeks, Oct 10th-24th.
