Chris Karmosky, assistant professor of Meteorology and Climatology, presented to the Catskills Youth Climate Summit on Oct. 7, 2021. The talk was titled “Climate Science 101: Code Red for Humanity” in recognition of the dire report from the IPCC released earlier this year. 35 students from grades 7-12 and their teachers from the Catskills and Hudson Valley were in attendance virtually. Students will be working throughout the fall and into the spring on projects that will make their communities more climate-resilient and the summit will culminate in an in-person workshop on SUNY Oneonta’s campus in Spring 2022. This summit is sponsored by the Cornell Cooperative Extension, Delaware County, NOAA, The Wild Center, Catskill Watershed Corporation and SUNY Oneonta.
